What We Were Up To This Week: Christmas Concert Fun!

It has been a very festive week in Grade 1H! I have attached a clip of the student's performance from yesterday afternoon, they did a WONDERFUL job. The students all looked so sweet in their PJs and slippers, and it was great to see how proud they felt after their performance.

I have included a link to the video of their performance here, as well as the 'Links and Resources' page: https://youtu.be/gKBDPYv0lec

This week we were busy learning all about words that have the "short o" sound at the beginning, middle, or end of the word. We went on a number hunt around the school to see how many numbers over 10 we could find. There were LOTS, which shows us it is very important to know about numbers more than 10.

This week we also continued our building project by adding a path from the homes to the school. First, we watched some videos of students in Columbia who must travel across a canyon on dangerous ziplines to get to school, and another village in Columbia where students must cross a river with a very fast current in order to get to school.

We agreed that we are very fortunate to have safe paths to school, whether it is by bus, vehicle, or walking on the sidewalk! Students were amazed to see how hard these children work to get to school. I have included the links to these videos. If you would like, please watch and discuss with your children.

Starting next week, the sledding hill will be open. If you'd like your child to participate in sledding at recess, please send their permission forms and their sleds.

That is all for now, have a great weekend!
