Education Week News for Next Week

Next week is Education Week. Below you will find information regarding some special activities that will take place!

Book Exchange - Tuesday, May 3
  • Bring in your gently used books and exchange them for new (to you) books. For every 2 books students bring in, they will be able to choose 1 new book. Remaining books will be available for purchase for 10-25 cents/book.

Stuffy Walk - Friday, May 6
  • Donate any good, used stuffed animals that you know longer want and students can participate in a giant game of musical chairs to try to win 'new to you' stuffed animals. Each student who brings in 3 or more stuffies will receive 4 Free Plays in the game. Students may also play for 25 cents per round.

All money collected from these activities and any remaining books or stuffies will be donated to the Stollery Children's Hospital.

Weekly Update!

Brickz4Kidz was an excellent time! The students worked with a partner
to follow instruction manuals to build motorized windmills and cars!

Students learned that before you build you need to have a plan, the
right materials, and how important it is to follow one step at a time!

We went bird watching around Willow Park and saw many
different types of birds! We saw some birds eating, flying,
and heard them singing to each other.

We even noticed that planes and birds have the same shape as we
watched some planes fly by.

We will continue to work on rhyming and syllables this week!
All the students have had their turn doing our daily 'Who Am I' activity, which gives us a chance to talk about how we are all unique. It is also a great way to review sentence structure, listening to instructions, and 'turtle, giraffe, and worm' letters. I told the students that once every student had a turn I would share the link with you, so here it is! http://more2.starfall.com/m/me/me-index/load.htm?f Please continue to work on printing workbooks when you can at home!

For the months of May and June, I will be sending home some home reading books to read with your child accompanied by a stuffed animal and an activity to complete together! I will send more information out about this next week.

Spring Photos are this Thursday, April 28th!

We have been singing London Bridge and building bridges during centre time this week as we are learning about rhyming and building. We are also 'building' bird nests by weaving in art.

April is Here!

Hello all,

I hope that you had an enjoyable Spring Break! I had a wonderful trip to Vancouver Island and am looking forward to the month ahead!

We will be focusing on rhyming, measurement, hygiene (specifically hand washing), and birds this month. We will continue our dance unit and also begin some skipping in P.E.

Andi the therapy dog will visit on Wednesday mornings. Each student will have opportunities to work with Andi while she is in our classroom.

Toboggans will be sent home tomorrow (Monday)!

I have included the calendar for the month below. As always, if you have any further questions or require additional information do not hesitate to contact me!
